Using bot commands
Use the bot's help command to check what is available to you. The examples use the . prefix configured for this server.
Find command help
| Command | What it shows |
|---|---|
.help | The command list you can access, grouped by category. Use the bot's page controls to browse it. |
.help <command> | The syntax, description, and permission level for a command. |
.help <group> | Help for a command group and its subcommands. |
.help all | The full list, including commands you may not have permission to use. |
For example, use .help giveaway, .help announce, or .help announce create to check the plugin commands before using them. Plugins may not be enabled on every bot, and permissions or plugin versions can change what appears in help; the bot's current help response takes precedence over these examples.
Giveaways
The giveaway plugin lets administrators create, check, cancel, and reroll giveaways. The bot needs View Channel, Send Messages, Read Message History, Embed Links, and Add Reactions in the giveaway channel.
| Command | Use |
|---|---|
.giveaway start <channel> | Opens a creation panel for a giveaway in the selected channel. Choose the prize, winner count, and duration in the panel, then confirm. |
.giveaway list | Shows active giveaways. |
.giveaway cancel <message_id> | Cancels the giveaway identified by its giveaway post message ID. |
.giveaway reroll <message_id> <winners_count> | Selects new winner(s) for an ended giveaway. Active giveaways cannot be rerolled. |
For example:
.giveaway start #giveaways
.giveaway list
.giveaway reroll 123456789012345678 1The root command also accepts .gaway. The start, reroll, and cancel commands have the aliases create, rroll, and stop, respectively. Use .help giveaway start or .help giveaway reroll for the bot's exact syntax.
Announcements
The announcement (announcer) plugin provides an interactive announcement builder and a quick plain-text option. These commands require administrator permission.
| Command | Use |
|---|---|
.announce create [channel] | Opens a panel to create a normal text announcement or an embed. You can include an image or thumbnail. If you omit the channel, the current channel is used. |
.announce quick <channel> <content> | Posts a plain-text announcement directly to the selected channel. |
.publish <message> | Publishes a message from a Discord announcement channel to its subscribed channels. |
For example:
.announce create #announcements
.announce quick #announcements Server maintenance starts at 8 PM.
.publish 123456789012345678For .publish, <message> can be a message ID, a channel-id-message-id pair, or a message link. If you provide only a message ID, the bot looks for it in the current channel. Only messages in Discord announcement channels can be published. The interactive create flow will ask whether to publish a new announcement when it is posted in an announcement channel.
Direct messages
When the local DM plugin is installed, supporters and higher can send a user a direct message with:
.dm <user> <message>For example:
.dm @winner Congrats on the giveaway, here is your code ||**aBcDeF**||The target can be mentioned or identified in a way Discord resolves as a user. The message is sent as written, so Discord Markdown such as bold text and spoiler tags works. The bot confirms whether it sent the DM; it does not echo the message into the staff channel. If Discord blocks DMs from the bot, ask the user to enable DMs or contact them another way.
To load this plugin when the files are installed on the bot, an owner can run .plugin add local/dm. Plugins must be enabled in the bot configuration.
Miscellaneous Commands
The help output may include a Miscellaneous Commands section for commands that are not attached to a named category. Its contents depend on the bot and its loaded plugins, so check .help for the current list. Then use .help <command> for any entry's exact syntax and permission level.
If a command or plugin you expect is missing, or you do not have permission to use it, ask a server administrator rather than guessing at a substitute.
